Baby baby..... where did my oomph go?

So I had in mind that I would be a size smaller by July 4th, especially since we are having a "Quallity Body Works Boat Party" the day before (we are closing the shop early and all going out in Rick's boat to swim and wakeboard and have fun). Well here it is less than a week away and have I done much of anything to reach that goal? Hell no. And I'm not making excuses, I know it's my own fault for being uninspired and reaching for the brownies way too often...

My question is..... why? Where did my mojo go?

I used to be really excited about working out and taking care of myself. What happened? Did I get to comfortable in my own skin? Am I happy where I am now? Well..... no, not really. But I'm not totally unhappy, either. Is that the problem?

I read somewhere about how it is easy to commit to the "end goal" --- less easy to commit to the process that gets you there. Maybe that's it. I'm all about committing to being a size smaller, having my bra fit better, wearing my cute summer clothes again, having a waist........ I just want it to be easy to get there. Like -- snap my fingers and voila! Instant size 6.

But, reality is a cold hard bitch.

I'll keep workin' on it.

This weekend we are having a garage sale. It's a lot of work - more than I like to do -- but we need to get rid of stuff and we need the extra dough. Also this weekend is the Fisher Fourth of July Family Fiesta Fandago and Fiasco -- we just don't know if its going to be in the traditional Allen & Judy location or if we are traveling to Burnet to Steven and Katy's new place. Waiting on word for that. At any rate, that will be Saturday afternoon/evening and I am sure a good time will be had by all. If for some reason I get a camera before then, maybe there will be pix!!

:o)

Dad

This is my brother Billy, my dad, and me.

The weekend was good. We left Saturday evening and drove to Burnet to see my brother-in-law Steven's new place. He and his family moved there from San Angelo due to a job transfer. They got a sweet place -- a 3200 sq ft home on about 10 acres of land out in the country. Very nice and very spacious. I think they will settle in and be quite happy there -- but they end up being happy just about everywhere they go. Some folks are just wired that way, and it seems they are the type. It was good to see them.

We got up early Sunday and went into Kingsland to my dad's house. It was not a big celebration or anything like that -- just us visiting. My brother came over with his family around lunch time and he fired up the grill and made burgers and hot dogs for everyone. The kids ran around and played outside and inside while the rest of us sat around the kitchen table and discussed world peace, the current state of our nation, what's wrong with kids these days and listened to my dad tell the same stories he always tells --- the same ones that always make us laugh no matter how many times we hear them.

There's the badger catching story..... the Billy falling in the tank stories..... the time Dad tried to buff a car with an orbital sander story......the donkey in the dark story.......the golf cart story......the Grandpa and Uncle David stories....... the Dad and Uncle Ricky stories....... the list goes on and on. To try and tell them here would be a disservice -- you have to hear him tell them to get the full effect.

I guess the other thing you should know about my Dad is that he is a disabled Vietnam Veteran. He is classified as "terminally ill" -- but he's been told that for over 10 years now. He says we are all "terminally ill" in some way or another. I suppose he's right. Anyway, he has numerous health problems. He shakes uncontrollably and blinks his eyes a lot when he's talking. He has trouble with short term memory. His digestive system is completely screwed up, he has high blood pressure and Lord knows what else. He hides a lot of it from us kids because he doesn't think it is our place to worry over him.

He did eat an entire hamburger and a bunch of nacho cheese doritos while we were there, so I took that as a sign he was having a good day.

Oh and he is the Commander of the local VFW post -- which he gripes about but you know he just loves it. :o)

That's my dad.

The Fam.

Here's me and my brother's kiddoes (remember I told ya they visited a couple of weeks ago). From left to right: Hannah, Karen, Erin, Isaac and Rachel. All characters - every one of 'em!! Great kids :o)

This is me, my mom and my brother, Billy. It's kind of hard to tell here, I suppose, but I favor Mom in the looks department. Billy is the spittin' image of Dad.

Speaking of Dad -- we are going to see him this weekend for Father's Day. Hopefully I will get a few more good pictures to post up here. It should be a fun weekend. My Dad is like a cross between Red Green and George Carlin.......

More about my Dad later. What is your favorite memory of your Dad?

Blockhead.

Ever stick your foot in your mouth and say something that hurts someone's feelings because you are a stupid dolt? Yeah. It sucks.

The weekend.

Well, as you know, this past weekend was my Mom's family reunion and my brother came with his wife and 5 kids. I would have posted about this sooner, but it took until now to chew through the duct tape that the kids used to tie me to the chair....

I kid! I kid!

We had a great weekend and enjoyed the visiting very, very much. And I have to say -- Kudos to Billy & Elda (my bro and sis-in-law) on their parenting skills. You know, with any number of kids, there is an opportunity for complete and utter chaos. The more kids you have, the more the opportunity grows exponentially. So with FIVE... well, I don't have to say more. What I do want to say is that these five kids are extremely well behaved, well mannered and........ just so deliciously adorable! :o)

If they email me pictures, I will show you. You'll see.

In other news.......

I spent Monday doing laundry and reading a trashy true crime novel. I never take the time to read anymore, so it was really nice.

Jimmy & LJ spent yesterday morning blowing cellulose insulation into our attic. Hopefully, we will reap loads of benefits on our electric bill, since summer is apparently here and the A/C is set on "perpetual". It was quite a job, but nothing two of my men couldn't handle :o) The yard looked like a volcano had erupted, though. Nothing a little weather won't clean up.

I've been getting up at 6am and doing exercise for 2 days straight. I'd say I'm on a roll but someone would roll their eyes at me and go, "2 days? psshhht." And they'd be right. I'll let you know when I've got 2 weeks under my belt. By then something should FIT under my belt because I'd better start losing inches off the flab or else........

And that's it for now.....
